Advanced Clutch Technology pressure plates and performance street disc combos are known far and wide for holding all kinds of power while still providing smooth, chatter-free engagement for daily driving and controllable launching. Thankfully, ACT has added a clutch upgrade kit to their line-up for the Evo 8!
The Evo VIII ACT clutch kit includes a heavy duty pressure plate capable of holding nearly 500 ft-lbs of torque (38% increase over stock), the killer ACT performance street disc for smooth engagement and better heat dissipation, ACT throw-out bearing and alignment tool.
This is not an "ACT 2100" commonly referred to in DSM circles, even though the plate carries an "HD" part number. The stock Evo 8 clutch itself clamps at approximately 2100 pounds, which, proven time and time again in DSMs, does not last long in AWDs making in the vicinity of 300+WHP. Evo owners are finding this out the hard way.
This ACT upgrade should be considered an "ACT 2900", with approximately 2900 pounds of clamping once installed, which is more than enough to handle power for just about any mods, including most turbo upgrades and nitrous. Part # MB7-HDSS
